Data Scientist

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for the collection, processing and statistical analyses of large data sets and building models. You will be expected to participate and advise in the development of machine learning software and marketing services designed for better audience targeting in the home services industries.

Responsibilities

• Work with IT teams, management and/or data scientists to determine organizational goals

• Mine data from primary and secondary sources

• Clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information

• Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques

• Pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets

• Identify new opportunities for process improvement

• Provide concise data reports and clear data visualizations for management

Required Skills and Experience

We require applicants to have a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). We expect you to have some experience in the following:

• Statistical modelling

• R and/or SAS languages

• SQL databases and database querying languages

• Data mining

• Data Cleaning

• Data visualization and reporting techniques

• Written and verbal expression

And interest in:

  Database design

  Programming (e.g. XML, Javascript, Python or ETL frameworks)

  Machine learning techniques

  Hadoop & MapReduce

  Data warehousing and business intelligence platforms
